In January 2025, Fio was diagnosed with neuroblastoma. Due to the tumour’s location, it caused spinal cord compression, resulting in a permanent spinal cord injury.

What followed was an incredibly long and challenging journey. Fio spent more than 100 days in the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead, bravely fighting each day. She then remained an inpatient at CHW for over eight months, supported every step of the way by her devoted parents and dedicated medical team.

After such a long hospital stay, a long-awaited moment finally arrived. In late 2025, for the first time since her diagnosis, Fio was able to go home — a milestone that once felt so far away.

MOAM was honoured to celebrate this beautiful moment by throwing Fio a special Welcome Home Party, marking her return to where she truly belongs: in the loving arms of her mum and dad, sleeping in her own bed, and surrounded by the comfort of home.

Fio’s journey is one of extraordinary resilience, courage, and love. As she begins this new chapter, her family looks forward to creating precious moments together beyond hospital walls — making memories that reflect her strength and the joy she brings to everyone who meets her.
